Marfrig has set ambitious energy efficiency targets to adapt to potential price volatility due to climate change. One of the measures adopted is more frequent purchases on the unregulated electricity market, which ensures the purchase of the power input at previously established prices.

Regarding operational consumption, a number of actions have been introduced by Marfrig to press for the rational use of energy, such as the introduction of more efficient equipment. The company also replaces traditional sources with more sustainable ones, as in Uruguay, where it operates a wind farm whose power generation capacity, on average, meets 30% of the Tacuarembó plant's demand. Renewable energy use targets will be published in the 2020 CDP cycle.
