Principles

Animal welfare is part of Marfrig's DNA. It is one of the pillars of its many strategies for sustainable business development. With guidelines observed globally, management of all slaughtering or processing units is based on ethical principles and laws and regulations applicable to the markets in which Marfrig is present, also meeting the requirements of customers in different countries.  Marfrig operates in partnership with suppliers, transporters and employees, always seeking to remain in compliance with the best animal management practices.

With  a commitment to produce quality food and guarantee food security, while respecting animal welfare as much as possible, Marfrig seeks, as feasible, to ensure that the stages of animal management — from the rural property to the production unit — guarantee  animals the five freedoms determined by the Farm Animal Welfare Council, an independent British organization that is a global point of reference on this issue.
