Marfrig begins distributing hand sanitizers
The product will be used for sanitizing industrial facilities and be distributed free-of-charge to employees, charitable organizations and hospitals located in cities where Marfrig operates
São Paulo, March 23, 2020 – Marfrig, one of the world’s leading beef producers and the world’s largest beef patty producer, will start producing hand sanitizers at its Promissão Unit located in the interior region of São Paulo state.
The Promissão Unit, where the company has primary processing and deboning operations, also has a cleaning products plant. Now, the unit will be used to manufacture 10 tons of hand sanitizers per month, which is used to prevent contagion from the novel coronavirus.
The first lot will be shipped to the company’s 12 units in Brazil. The following lots will be sent to 18,000 Marfrig employees in Brazil and donated to charitable organizations and hospital located in cities where the company operates.
The production, distribution and donation of hand sanitizers is one of the measures taken by Marfrig to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. This past weekend, the company announced a commitment to keep operating – rigorously following the protocols established by health authorities – all of its units in Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and the United States, thereby contributing to the food safety of the general public.
Marfrig also announced the donation of R$7.5 million to the Ministry of Health to purchase 100,000 rapid tests for diagnosing Covid-19.
