First shipment of Brazilian fresh beef arrives in USA
São Paulo, September 27 – Marfrig’s first shipment of fresh beef arrived by airfreight in the United States yesterday, days before the first container ships carrying the product are expected to dock in the country.
The beef left Bataguassu, Mato Grosso and was loaded onto American Airlines Flight AA930, which departed from Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo on Sunday and touched down yesterday at Miami International Airport in Florida. The beef has already cleared customs.
Brazilian fresh beef exports to the United States are the result of the efforts made by the Ministry of Agriculture, which reduced bureaucracy to effectively open up the U.S. market in record time and, just 45 days after signing the trade agreement, on September 18, Marfrig had already shipped its first container of fresh beef by ship to the United States.
“After making the first maritime shipment to the U.S. from Brazil and having been responsible for producing the first lots of beef to reach American soil, now via airfreight, Marfrig demonstrates its incredible capacity to offer high-value animal protein products on a global scale and to leverage Brazil’s potential to become once again a leading beef producer,” said the CEO of Marfrig’s Beef Division, Andrew Murchie.
