Marfrig elected Best Brazilian Company in Animal Welfare by Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare

São Paulo, January 27, 2016 – Marfrig improved one tier in the ranking compiled by the Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW) of companies with the world's best animal welfare practices and was classified as Tier 2 in its report for 2015, alongside companies such as Unilever and McDonald’s. Last year, Marfrig already figured among of Brazil's best-placed companies in the ranking with a Tier 3 classification.

According to the BBFAW's 2015 Report, highlights at Marfrig include its commitment to animal welfare in all countries where it operates, and Marfrig Club, a cattle farmer development program present in all Brazilian states where it operates, with over 3,500 member properties.

“Marfrig’s performance in the BBFAW’s 2015 Report demonstrates our efforts to increasingly incorporate animal welfare into the company’s strategy to ensure the perpetuity of the business and sustainability throughout the entire chain,” said Andrew Murchie, CEO of Marfrig Beef Brazil.
